The Steps of Ear Micro-suction:

• Your clinician will start by inserting a verry narrow tube into your ear (not generally painful). 
• This tube contains a camera and light, which is called Otendoscope. 
• This will allow your pharmacist to clearly see if you have wax requiring removal. 
• If you decide with your clinician to have wax removed then this will be done under direct visulization with Otendoscope, which may be with the involvement of other wax removal instrument 
• The type of instrument is dependent on the type and amount of wax you have in your ear canal. 
• A suction probe will be used, where you will hear suction noise, especially when ear wax is being sucked up.
• A before and after picture will be taken for our Clinical Governance 
• A video of your suction may be available (depending on the instrument used)
